While today scientists have not found that there are certain foods that actually cause acne, there is some truth to the notion that diet can have an impact on your acne. Sure, eating chocolate isn't going to immediately lead to more breakouts, but eating the right foods can actually help to improve your skin and help you get rid of acne. When you are suffering from acne, it is so important that you eat the right foods and keep your diet healthy. While foods may not flare up your acne, there are some foods out there that have important nutrients that can help your body become more healthy, helping with your acne problem.

You'll find that there are a variety of different nutrients in foods that can help with your health, including skin health. When people get the right nutrients in their body, scientists believe that their overall appearance can be affected positively. A great diet will help to improve the raw materials for having skin that is healthy. Your skin is the largest organ that you have, but like any other organ in your body, the right nutrients are needed if the organ is going to be healthy. So, lets take a look at some of the nutrients you need for healthy skin that is acne free and how you can get them.

Vitamin E

One very important vitamin for skin health is Vitamin E. It is a very potent antioxidant and works to keep your cells well protected against free radicals. Free radicals can damage the cells in your body and cause disease and they can cause skin problems for you as well. Some great foods to eat to make sure you get plenty of Vitamin E include peanuts, broccoli, vegetable oil, wheat germ, almonds, and sunflower seeds.

Vitamin A

Another very important Vitamin that you should have to keep your body and your skin healthy and acne free is Vitamin A. This is a fat soluble vitamin that helps to keep the mucous membranes and the skin healthy. It also works as a barrier against viruses and bacteria as well. You can find Vitamin A in plants and it is known commonly as beta carotene, which you find in dark green vegetables, and yellow or orange fruits. Remember that too much can be bad though, so don't go overboard. You can get Vitamin A from carrots, tomatoes, kale, apricots, cantaloupe, yams, spinach, and parsley.

Zinc

Zinc is also an antioxidant, helping to get rid of the free radicals inside the body. It helps to boost the immune system, which is important to skin health as well. You can get zinc by eating nuts, eggs, mushrooms, and whole grains; however, this is not always enough. You may want to consider taking a supplement to get enough zinc in your diet.

Vitamin B-3

Last of all is Vitamin B-3. This is a vitamin that can help to improve the circulation in your body and it is known to help promote skin that is healthy. It also helps to reduce cholesterol levels as well and can help metabolize fats, sugars, and proteins as well. You can find this vitamin in eggs, liver, lean meats, avocados, and peanuts.
