Silent Hill: Origins is a playstation exclusive video game. It is available for PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable. Silent Hills: Origins is known by the name Silent Hill: Zero in Japan. It is the fifth game in the Silent Hill series bearing a survival horror video game genre. It is developed and published by Konami in collaboration with climax studios for PlayStation Portable and Monolith Productions for PlayStation 2. For PlayStation Portable, Silent Hill: Origins was released on 6 December, 2007 while the PlayStation 2 version was released on 4 March, 2008. It comes in single player mode only.

The plot for the Silent Hill: Origins is set 7 years prior to the earlier game and takes Travis Grady as central character. Travis Grady is a trucker suffering from the problem of haunting nightmares. The story of Silent Hill: Origins gets interested when Travis Grady’s truck is stroke by some unknown figure. The figure appears to be a girl who is responsible for hurting the Grady in the incident. Girl appears and disappear lot of time in front of Travis but no other person sees her. Silent Hill: Origins whole story revolves around the haunting incidents happening with the Travis Grady but giving Travis the happy ending when everything becomes normal as it was.

Silent Hill: Origins story is told from the third person perspective. The gameplay is similar to previous games of the Silent Hill series. But now the game features 3D controls instead of tank controls as depicted in earlier games of the series. In Silent Hill: Origins now users can immediately switch between the weapons using d-pad to avoid weapon breakage. The weaponry in the game is more destructive and also the game feature more melee than earlier games. Weapons included in the Silent Hill: Origins are such as hammers, wrenches, planks, toasters and TV sets. There is also a grapple system which means enemies can hold Travis but the player can escape using certain combos.

Silent Hill: Origins has got positive reviews. Fairly not all but most of them were positive. The graphics of the game were said to be of usual quality for PlayStation 2 but the graphics were criticized for the Play Station Portable version.
