The Honda CR-V is a compact SUV manufactured by Honda. The name CR-V stands for "Compact Recreational Vehicle". The original CR-V design was revealed in the year 1996 as an entry to satisfy public demand for a sport-utility vehicle. It was derived from the Honda Civic. It was displayed for the first time at the 1996 Chicago Auto Show.

Through the years, the vehicle has been growing in refinement and popularity since it first appeared on the market. Today, statistically the 2008 Honda CRV is the most popular vehicle in mini class SUV category.

"The 2008 CR-V is a 4-door, 5 passenger sport-utility, available in 8 trims, ranging from the LX 2WD 5-Spd AT to the EX-L 4WD 5-Spd AT w/ Navigation System. The LX 2WD 5-Spd AT is equipped with a standard 2.4 liter, I4, 166 horsepower engine that achieves 20 mpg in the city and 27-mpg on the highway. The EX-L 4WD 5-Spd AT w/ Navigation System is equipped with a standard 2.4-liter, I4, 166-horsepower engine that achieves 20-mpg in the city and 26-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard on both trims." With these specifications, the CRV boasts superior handling and its high fuel efficiency on the road.

Although the body style remained the same as the first generation, still the exterior look has been improved. A big selling point of the Honda CR-V is its styling which offers sleek, aerodynamically inspired lines, stylish two-level grille, folding side-view mirrors, fold-up tailgate for convenience and stylish auto parts. It comes with a luxury feature such as 17-inch alloy wheels, a power sunroof, chrome accents, privacy glass, and a high security system.

The 2008 Honda CR-V's interior gets minimal criticism because of its comfort, and functional features.

It offers plenty of standard features such as leather-covered seats, onboard navigation with voice recognition, a rearview camera, XM Satellite Radio, and a sunglass holder with a 'conversation mirror (a device to help parents keep an eye on children in the back seat). When it comes to entertainment it includes either a CD player or a 6-disc CD changer. XM Satellite Radio is standard on the premium trim of the CR-V.

There are multiple safety features including front seat airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags, front and rear seat side air curtains, and front seat active head restraints, antilock brakes with brake assist, electronic brake-force distribution and Vehicle Stability Assist with traction control.
