Today we know that stretch marks are actually scars in the middle layers of the skin. One treatment that you may want to consider is Retin A. Retin A in some cases will help to blend the color of your stretch marks with the rest of your skin. It works best on stretch marks that are fairly new. However, you can only get this from your doctor. One option is Kinerase, which is a compound that is related, but it does not irritate the skin as Retin A often can do.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids

You will also find that alpha hydroxy acids can also help to treat your stretch marks as well. They help to lighten up the skin and they also promote the deposition of collagen as well. New research is showing that alpha hydroxy acids can be helpful with getting rid of stretch marks when it is used in concentrations of about 8-12%.

Laser Treatments

A more expensive treatment that is showing some promise when it comes to treating stretch marks is laser treatment. Using pulsed dye lasers can help to reduce the different pigments between the normal skin and the stretch marks in the area. However, this is an expensive treatment that only works for some people.
