Fibromyalgia Treatment

Fibromyalgia is a physical condition in which the patient suffers from chronic pain. The pain is felt all over the body. The condition is rare only affecting 2% of the population. It mostly affects women more than men and generally affects people in early or middle adulthood. Although there have been cases affecting children and elderly. There is no universal cause or cure for the condition. This means that every doctor has different opinions on the condition. There have been a wide range of beliefs into what causes Fibromyalgia but each one does not have enough evidence in the case. Generally Fibromyalgia is apart of different conditions such as depression. However when the other condition is treated sometimes Fibromyalgia is not detected. This means someone may have the condition and not know they have it. It is often referred to as a stress related disorder as the symptoms worsen under stress.  At current there is not a diagnostic criterion. There is no formal way to identify Fibromyalgia. There is a criterion set out but some doctors disagree with these.On top of all of the different ideas on how it is caused there are plenty of different treatments. Somewhere are doctor claims to have found a cure. This may be so but there are so many out there and there seems to be different results for different patients. As there are so many treatments people who suffer don't know what to think or do next. The process is still the same but they don't know if they will get the correct treatment that will help them. There are different treatments ranging from hypnosis to conventional medicine. Each one claims to be the best treatment for them. Some of the medicines available can make other conditions worse. This is the case for Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors. There is not much research into alternative medicine. Although one study did find, that acupuncture provided significant pain relief for Fibromyalgia Suffers. Some websites state that some Fibromyalgia patients can treat themselves using a "tactile approach". This means that the patient will have to manage everything from their diet to their sleeping pattern whilst avoiding any known triggers. It also recommends that a patient does not over stimulate themselves as this can make things worse. Some doctors believe that the condition may be psychosomatic or psychogenic. Although there are different beliefs to the cause and what the condition is, there have been claims that the patient can be cured when the psychological cause is found. This can be done in the form of Hypnosis. Diets can also be a factor in recovering from Fibromyalgia. Some foods can make the condition worse. Although it is recommended that everyone eats healthy but there are some foods that Fibromyalgia patients such avoid. These include caffeine and take-away's.  However patients of Fibromyalgia are recommended to eat more of particular vitamins.
