The Honda Element is a compact crossover SUV manufactured by Honda. It made its debut as a small crossover sports utility vehicle in 2003. This vehicle shares a number of its characteristics with the CR-V although its dimensions are smaller.

The 2007 Element version received a mild upgrade, which included 10 hp increases to 166 hp. In mid June 2007 Honda started selling the 2008 Element.

The 2008 Element is a 4 door, 4 passenger sport-utility, available in 10 trims, ranging from the LX 2WD 5-Spd MT to the SC 2WD 5-Spd AT.

"The LX 2WD 5-Spd MT is equipped with a standard 2.4 liter, I4, 166 horsepower engine that achieves 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. A 5 speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard. The SC 2WD 5 Spd AT is equipped with a standard 2.4-liter, I4, 166 horsepower engine that achieves 20-mpg in the city and 25-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard." Handling characteristics of the Element are generally regarded as quite good.

The Element has one of the most unique profiles on the road. Its car parts was also designed to maximize efficiency and functionality for those drivers who need both. The Honda Element's shape proudly proclaims its utility. It's a basic two-box design, with a small box for the engine and a much larger box for four passengers and their stuff or two passengers and a lot more stuff.

It has new 18-inch alloy wheels, projector beam headlights, sport suspension, and a lowered ride height. It also has a removable skylight for various uses such as standing up (which is advised against while driving), letting sun in and, of course, fresh air.

The interior of the Element is extremely spacious for its class. Many of its interior features bring comfort and relaxation such as easily adjustable seats that recline and are able to be removed for more space. It has water-resistant seats and scratch resistant floors, almost any type of a mess will be easy to clean up; and a four-speaker AM/FM/CD player that impresses reviewers.

Safety features include a rigid Unit-Body Construction to reduce intrusion in case of an impact; Side-Impact Door Beams in the front and back; Vehicle Stability Assist would automatically adjust the brake pressure on the wheels and reduce engine power; and 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes and braking assist to ensure an immediate stop.
