I’ve often wondered how small businesses managed to do all that they do and still turn a livable profit. The expenses involved with overhead, including payroll, rent, freight, and general office petty cash expenditures seems enough to overwhelm even a healthy bank account. Plus, one of the largest expenses a company, big or small must incur is how they will go about marketing their services. The world of advertising is a necessary expense, but often one that can cause some serious financial drainage. But wait! What is that saying about great things can come in small packages? Enter the possibility of using promotional pens to help advertise for you!

Promotional pens are a small business owners answer to a prayer when it come to getting the word out about their company, its location or what it offers the consumer—at a reasonable price. Imagine purchasing a gross of some other item to use as a give away, such as tee shirts, caps, water bottles, etc. That could cost a pretty penny and take up much space to store, not to mention the cost of shipping the items. Promotional pens are small, affordable and easily one of the most used items that an advertiser can choose to give as a means of marketing.

Everyone uses pens, from school children to the professionals who teach them. Everyone who can write a check or sign a credit card receipt uses a pen. What a workout that promotional message will get when it goes from purse or pocket to counter to desk! Each time a promotional pen is used it affords another opportunity for its inscription to reach the eyes of a potential customer. That is a lot of advertising for the money!

One of the extremely attractive facets of using promotional pens as a means of advertising and networking, is how easy it can be to "plant" them. On a typical Saturday morning of running errands, a small business owner can grab a handful of promotional pens as they head out the door and a small effort could pay off with some big dividends. First stop is the bank. Leaving a pen or two on the work tables or counter is a harmless means of providing the chance of someone absentmindedly picking it up, using it, and putting it in their purse/pocket. When they discover it later, they will identify it as not their own by what method? Reading the inscription, of course! Voila! Almost instant name recognition for your business.

Multiply this minimal effort times the number of places you will stop doing your errands and you can be guaranteed that a lot of people will be reading about your business within the next few hours or days. Start off with a small investment in promotional pens, use your own normal weekends to spread them around and you could end up going from a small to a large business owner in no time!
