Alcoholic Beverage: Alcoholic beverages may show a periodic vulnerability to migraine.
Drugs: Reserpine and vasodilators like hydralazine, diazoxide, minoxidil, nifedipine, prazosin in hypertension, may precipitate any attack of migraine.
The hormone estrogen has an influence on migraine. An attack may return during pregnancy when the estrogen is high, though, there may have been a remission since childhood or adolescence. It may also occur soon after delivery.
Estrogen therapy or estrogen-containing oral contraceptives may worsen a migraine. If you prefer to use oral contraceptives, use the one which has the smallest amount of estrogen, such as Ovral-L or Primoylar-30.
Diseases: Hypertension, cervical spondylosis, mental depression or anxiety may produce migraine like headaches.
Miscellaneous Factors: Change in weather, barometric conditions, and exposure to glaring light may trigger a migraine too.
Weekend migraine', more common in the West, is caused by the 'let down' phenomenon. Alcoholic overindulgence, increased social demands, or late sleeping are the contributing factors.
