Stretch marks they are the thing every woman dreads. They look like thin scars on your skin, and they occur in many people. Some women deal with Athem because of weight loss or gain, and just about every woman who goes through pregnancy ends up dealing with some stretch marks. With stretch marks, the outer layer of skin is perfectly okay, but the middle layer that has elastin and collagen in it can become too weak and thin, and then it can tear. These marks at first appear to be a purplish red color, but as time goes on, they begin to fade into a silver or white color.

During pregnancy, many women end up getting stretch marks on their abdomens and on their breasts, and much of this can be hormonal. Hormones often soften the collagen and allow tissues to easily stretch, so this allows stretch marks to more easily form. In some case, some women have weak collagen as well, which makes them more prone to the stretch marks. No doubt you'd like to know some ways that you can treat and prevent stretch marks, so here are a few tips to help.

Avoid Yo-Yo Diets

One important things that you can do to help prevent getting stretch marks is to avoid yo-yo dieting. If you are trying to lose weight, then you should aim for about a pound each week. This way you don't lose the weight so fast that stretch marks are caused by the weight loss. Often yo-yo diets can lead to fast weight loss and fast weight gain, and this is definitely a way to get stretch marks, so if you diet, going on something that you can stick with and lose the weight slowly.

Consider Lasers in the Early Stages

When your stretch marks are in their early stages, lasers may be able to help. As long as they are still red, they may be able to get some help with the lasers. The blood vessels may get the heat from the beam of the laser and seal up, getting rid of some of the red color. However, this probably won't totally get rid of the stretch marks for you and it can be quite expensive as well.

Keep Your Weight Down

Whether you are pregnant or not, it is important to keep your weight down. You don't want to have any quick weight gains if you want to avoid stretch marks. While it is easy to gain some weight while you are pregnant, make sure that you gain it slowly and don't go overboard. Usually you should gain about 25-30 pounds with pregnancy, but gaining more than that can result in bad stretch marks.

As you can see, there are some things that can be done to prevent stretch marks. Stretch marks can be frustrating, but you can prevent them if you use these simple tips.
