Nissan Frontier is the American name for the model known as the Navara in most parts of the world. It was introduced in 1997, and the first generation Nissan Frontier Truck appeared in 1998 as a replacement for the Nissan Hardbody Truck.

Redesigned in 2005, it carryovers its design with only minor changes for the year 2007. The 2008 Nissan Frontier is largely unchanged. It is well innovated carryover from 2007 model. It is a 4-door, 4-passenger compact pickup, available in 8 trims, ranging from the XE 4X2 to the LE 4X4.

"The XE 4X2 is equipped with a standard 2.5-liter, I4, 152-horsepower engine that achieves 19-mpg in the city and 23-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard. The LE 4X4 is equipped with a standard 4.0-liter, V6, 261-horsepower engine that achieves 14-mpg in the city and 19-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard Maximum towing capacity is 5000 lb." The Frontier drew nothing but praise for its very good engine specification. Most reviewers observe that the acceleration from the Frontier’s V-6 engine is comparable to a V-8.

The new Frontier follows a design from the 2005 model but they notice a more family friendly design. It shares its beefy body-on-frame platform with the Nissan Xterra and Nissan Pathfinder. The size doesn’t differ much with its descendant, the Titan, although it is much athletic looking. They have an optimized performance model for off-road known as the Nismo. Truck parts features Bilstein shocks tuned for greater off-road capability, more skid plates, electronic-locking rear differential, electronic all-wheel limited slip system and a unique 16 inch alloy wheels.

The seating is generally regarded as comfortable and spacious with bucket seats and cloth upholstery. It also has gauges that are very easy to read and clearly visible day or night. It is also located where an experienced driver expects it to be.

"Enhancements for 2008 include a new Technology Package, offering an upgraded sound system with an auxiliary jack, steering wheel audio controls, Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System, XM® satellite radio, Nissan Immobilizer and Vehicle Security System."

Quoted from usnews.rankingsandreviews.com, "The 2008 Nissan Frontier does well in federal government crash tests. In federal government testing, the 2008 Frontier 4x4 earned four out of five stars for driver and front passenger protection in front impact crashes, and five out of five stars for front seat and backseat occupant protection in side impact crashes". Available safety equipment includes ABS, traction control, an antiskid system, curtain side airbags, and front side airbags.
