Once we sincerely set foot on the path of growth, we begin the Journey Home – back to KNOWING who we really are (and always have been).
"How long does this journey take", I asked my teacher.
"As long as time", he said. "There is all the time in the world. Not a moment more; not a moment less".
With that backdrop as context for this discussion, allow me to suggest that the path of growth is a JOURNEY, and that as long as one is attached to "how long" it will take, one is cutting oneself off from the JOY of the journey -- for the joy of the journey reveals itself as we surrender more and more to resting in the "eternal now" that is not dependent on linear time or physical space.
From our human perspective, the journey could take "quite some time", so we might as well find a way to enjoy it and renew ourselves regularly along the Path.
My teacher often told me that in the game of Life and entrepreneurship, those that flourish are profoundly committed to discovering and doing "what works". He told me that a commitment to workability is a profound way to honor Love, as Life is Love in Action, and making life work better for ourselves and others is a demonstration of "Love in Action".
He also told me that there is a powerful and mysterious alchemy that occurs when short, medium, and long-range goals are aligned with each other – and when all the goals are aligned with PURPOSES that profoundly resonate with our Hearts – the unique Love that we are.
As we discover this alchemy, we begin to "lose track of time" and yet, paradoxically, we become more effective and better stewards of time.
He taught me the importance of RHYTHM. Rhythm is magical, in that on one hand, rhythm brings a certain order to time, and on the other hand, it is a window to a dimension of ourselves that exists beyond time. It is a doorway to profound renewal.
We can get a glimpse of this in many ways. Musical conductors live notoriously long and vital lives. Assembly workers who do the same thing over and over again according to an unwavering linear schedule often get bored and "burned out" easily. If you don’t enjoy being alone, you can’t really ever know the joys of relationship … I could go on and on.
One of the major keys to successful entrepreneurship is finding and honoring your unique rhythm and your unique strengths – and then helping others do the same.
A mark of maturity is finding joy in the differences in all of us, and at the same time, sensing an underlying unity and harmony that connects us all.
Paradoxically, you will find you produce the most outstanding results when you give up your attachment to things beyond your direct control. My teacher told me the only three things we can directly control are OUR thoughts, speech, and actions. When we focus on becoming increasingly impeccable in these three areas, and we are guided by LOVE, we are doing our best and all else will fall into place.
In short, we learn to TRUST.
One last thing I want to share with you about all this …
The way OUT is THROUGH … Learn to be "Easy in Your Harness".
Blessings to You along the Path,
Kathy Bibby
