Known locally as ‘Zlatni Pyasatsi’, Golden Sands is the second-largest resort along the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. The resort is located near to the Golden Sands National Park. It is 18 km north of the 3rd largest Bulgarian city (Varna) where the closest international airport resides. Neighbouring towns include Kranevo and St. Konstantin. Construction on the area began in the 1950’s. Since then, the resort is now fully established as a modern and well equipped holiday destination.

Golden Sands boasts richly wooded hills sweeping down to a wide golden beach and a clear blue sea. In addition, tourists are attracted by the climate, reasonable prices and the pleasant locals. The resort's beach strip, 3.5 km long and up to 100 m wide, is covered with fine golden sand and has been awarded the prestigious international Blue Flag.
You can bask in the sun and bathe in the sea from May through October. The average air temperature in summer is + 27 C, water temperature up to + 26 C. The resort is situated on the territory of Golden Sands Nature Park, which has been placed under special observation in order to preserve the tree varieties and animal species existing here since its establishment.

Notable local sites of interest include the Aladzha rock monastery. This is a fine example of an aging rock monastery, a style which is traditional to the region. At the nearby town of Balchik, there is a Bulgarian palace and also botanical gardens which are open to the public for viewing.
