Many women out there today are looking for stretch mark removal options, especially if they have just had a baby. Most women who go through pregnancy end up with stretch marks from the ordeal, and it is something that most are less than happy about. However, there are a variety of treatment options available today for stretch marks. If you don't take good care of yourself while you are pregnant though, you may end up with some stretch marks that are very bad. In most cases you can treat your stretch marks, but don't expect to ever get rid of those stretch marks for good.

It is the sudden weight gain during pregnancy that ends up causing women to get stretch marks on their body. The skin stretches, and when it gets so far, scarring occurs in the form of stretch marks. At first they look red and dark, but as time goes by, the get much lighter. There are many things that can affect whether you end up with stretch marks, so prevention is important.

Prevention Works the Best

Yes, it is better to try to prevent stretch marks rather then to treat them. So, prevention definitely works the best. Even if you do end up with stretch marks anyway though, you do have quite a few options. Most women usually go with creams or lotions as their first option for treating their stretch marks. Some of the ingredients to look for in these creams and lotions include shea butter, Aloe Vera, lanolin, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, and cocoa butter. Often these lotions can work to rebuild the skin and heal the stretch marks so they don't appear so bad.

If you do decide to use a lotion or cream, make sure that you give it plenty of time to start working before you despair. Don't even expect to see any changes in the first week, but if after a month or two nothing happens, this isn't working for you and you may need another treatment option. Even lotions that do the job for friends and family members may not work for you, so you'll have to find the one that does work for your stretch mark needs.

Other Options for Stretch Mark Removal

Of course there are other options to consider if you are not happy with the creams and lotions and how they work on your stretch marks. One option that is gaining popularity is laser therapy. This option can take a lot of time and you should take the time to find out a lot more about it before you decide that it is the right option for you. There are both pros and cons to laser therapy, and you'll need to review both to make the best decision for your needs.

So, one of the best things that you can do when you're considering your options for stretch mark treatment is to talk to your physician. More than likely he'll be able to give you some great suggestions that can help you diminish your stretch marks so your skin looks better.
