Innovation is defined as meaning the introduction of new things or methods. Innovation is everywhere. Whether we like it or not, it’s part of change. Innovation is very important in the business world. It means bringing a greater value to the marketplace. In direct sales, you need to be innovative to generate direct mail sales leads, find direct sales customers and make sales.

Technology is changing everyday and we have to change with it. Sales people can no longer use the same methods of selling products as they did ten or even five years ago. Automation is replacing people in many jobs in order to remain productive; we need to understand and keep up with innovation in our daily lives. Another major advancement in technology is the Internet and the important role it plays in our lives. New methods of network marketing are being developed everyday, so to remain competitive it’s important that you make changes with the world.

In the Direct Sales Industry, innovation may involve company and staff meetings, team training meetings or employee motivation seminars and courses. One of the largest reasons sales figures decrease for companies is that they continue to do business as they did ten years ago. What this results in is they are not competitive with companies that are using all the latest technology and innovations.

In order for a sales team to be effective and successful, they all have to be "on the same page". The best way for this to happen is to know how they’re doing as a team. Weekly or monthly staff or team meetings is a very effective way to compare notes on sales, lost sales, appointments with new clients, etc. If one sales rep has had a good month, they can share notes and experiences with the rest of the team.

Training meetings are also an example way to learn about anything new in the Direct Sales or Marketing business. The sales reps are meeting with other reps like themselves, which gives them all the opportunities to discuss innovations within their business or what other companies are doing. These training meetings may last for one day or more. Seminars are similar to training sessions, and can be very effective and helpful. Many direct sales consultants have attended and graduated from some of the best business schools in the nation. Regardless of the education level of the Direct Sales representative, continuous improvement and change is still the most successful way to success in your market.

One of the most important things to remember is that innovation is necessary to be competitive in a direct sales business. You need to be open to innovation and change.
