Site promotion is yet another tricky subject for newbies. How are you supposed to promote your site? How long does it take to get traffic? How do the pros promote their sites? These are some of the questions I will be answering if you continue to read on.

One of the most important things I learned is that organic search traffic is the best kind of traffic the get. It is better than traffic created by social networking and social bookmarking and forum posting etc..Just to be clear here, organic search traffic is traffic you receive from Google or another search engine. This traffic is best because it is usually more targeted. In other words, targeted traffic is more likely to be interested in your site or perhaps the ads on your site, than a non targeted web browser.

So how do we promote a site in a way that drives organic traffic? It is all about getting links and more links! Links are the life blood of you blog. Links are how Google finds your blog from other sites on the net. Links are counted as a 'vote' for your site thus the more links you have the higher up in the search engine rankings you will go. So the question becomes how do you get links efficiently?

Well let me start by saying right away that if you think you are going to write 'great content' and it will some how magically attract thousands of links you need to wake up and stop reading those lousy A-lister type blogs! You wont make any money anytime soon like that. Can it be done that way? Yes but it takes luck and it takes years to make money like that.

There is a more practical solution to getting links to your site. Remember, the more anchored links you get the higher you will rank for that term. So if all your anchored links say "Click Here" then Google will think your site is about "Click Here" instead of what it is really about. Use your keyword as the text in your links. The more anchored links you have the better you will rank for that term. Simple.

There are four basic ways to get links outside of black hat seo. These four basic methods include social bookmarking links, article submissions, directory submissions and blog commenting.

I use bookmarking demon to automate my bookmarking links. It creates accounts for me at the top twenty high page rank bookmarking sites. Then BMD will post my urls as bookmarks in these sites thus giving me one way links galore.

Then I write some articles and include three links in the resource box. Most article directories will accept three links but some wont. I don't worry about the ones that wont because I use an article submitter to automatically submit my articles to over 200 article directories at the push of a button.

This gives me a link from each article directory plus a link from anyone who uses my article on their site. This is kind of viral in nature and can produce links for a long time to come.

I use a directory submitter to submit to directories. It fills in the common information for me like my name and site name...things like that. I still have to choose that correct category though so this one is really semi automated.

Finally I use Fast Blog Finder and or Blog Comment Demon to find high page rank blog pages to comment on. This way I can cherry pick some sweet links from the multitude of blogs out there.

I love automating this process as much as possible because it simply allows me to get more done and remember, it is all about getting those links!
