The temperature is rising and the sun is out. After the chill of winter and coolness of spring we are getting ready to go out in the sun or off on our holidays. Whether it is a party, trip to the beach, holiday or day out - it's time to go out and enjoy yourself!!
Here are a few tips especially if you suffer from acne to make sure you protect your skin this summer. After all there is no way you will want to miss a day at the beach just because you have a breakout of acne. Exposure to the sun, you may have heard is good for your skin as it burns off the spots, but as it is well documented constant exposure to ultraviolet radiation is not the wisest decision you will ever make. All that will happen is that the topmost layer of your face skin will be burnt by the sun. The suns so called positive effects are only short term and do not deal with the root cause of your acne.
Sweating is a big problem in the heat, especially if you are an acne sufferer. If you do suffer from acne and are sweating try not to repeatedly wipe your face. The best way is to wash the sweat away is by gently washing your face in lukewarm water. Unfortunately exposure to the sun and wind will also dry out your skin. You may think that this will prevent the build up of excess sebum that build up in your pores, alas it is not that simple. Often with dry skin it will crack and take longer to heal. Being exposed to wind will also mean that the negative effect of the sebum and wind-borne dust will result in your pores still getting blocked and clogged up.
Using sun lotions is something that we need to be careful about. Some lotions and creams do contain oil which has the same effect as sebum. Choose your sunscreen wisely try to avoid those rich in oil. When in the sea you will notice the salty water having an effect on your skin. Unfortunately perfect skin and salty water do not go hand in hand and that's before we even give any thought to just how clean the water is.
How are we able to prevent and fight acne this summer? We need to look after our skin keeping it clean and free of sebum and dust, every morning and evening. There are many products on the market today such as Clear Pores. Complete skin care systems have a deep wash which cleans the surface and pores keeping them clean and dry. Herbal supplements that kill bacteria and protection cream which acts as a shield to protect your skin from grime and bacteria. Put this together will a more sensible and healthy diet and you are well on your way to looking after your skin this summer and fighting any outbreaks of acne.
