Before you can learn some really awesome soccer moves, you need to get the basic ones down first. The basic moves are not hard to learn but you will need to practice a bit. It is important to master the following moves in order to aid in learning more advanced ones. In this article are three moves that you will need to master before you move on.
The first one we are going to discuss is dribbling. It may not sound exciting, but dribbling is a move that is vitally important. This skill is the foundation for all moves to come. In a nutshell, dribbling is the ability of a player to move the soccer ball up and down the field in a controlled manner. Dribbling is simply being able to effectively and in a controlled manner move the ball anywhere on the field. Learning to dribble is not hard and can be done by shoving, pushing or tapping a ball with the sole, outside or inside of the foot. What I recommend before starting out practicing dribbling is to first get comfortable with the ball. The easiest and best way to get comfortable with the ball is to simply juggle it with both feet. By juggling the ball, you will build up coordination and begin to get a good feel and sense of the ball which will help in all moves you attempt to learn in the future.
The second move we are going to discuss is passing. In essence, there are 2 types of passing, the long pass and the short or push pass. What encompasses passing is having the ability to move the ball from one player to the next without the other team taking it away. As far as accuracy is concerned, the push pass is better than the long pass. The push pass uses the inside and middle portions of either foot. In essence, you will be striking the ball with the middle inside portion of the foot that you want to pass with. Your other foot will be used to help aim the pass by being pointed in the direction you want the ball to go and planted next to the ball itself. You will follow this same technique when performing a long pass, only you'll strike the ball a little harder. It is vitally important to always keep your focus on the ball. This will help tremendously in the accuracy of the pass.
The final move is the shot. When taking a shot on goal, accuracy is the most important. Anyone can kick a ball hard but only a few can kick a ball hard and have it go exactly where they want it to. Following the guide on how to pass above, the foot that is not involved in actually kicking the ball will be pointed in the direction you want the ball to go and also planted next to it. The foot that is actually striking the ball needs to be done with the angeled and inside portion of the foot. Take a minute and picture the side of your foot as a right angle. For example, the bottom of your foot would be the zero degree axis and the top would be the ninety degree axis. When you strike the ball you want to do so in the middle of 0 and 90 degrees or at the 45 degree mark. By kicking with this portion of the foot you will be able to get the most power and accuracy. You must always remember to keep your eye on the ball so it will be accurate as well.
So that's it, 3 sure fire soccer moves to build a solid foundation around. Upon mastering these moves, you can then move on to learn those really awesome soccer moves that you desire. As long as you keep practicing, you'll continue to grow as a player. You know how the old saying goes, "Practice makes perfect", well in soccer this couldn't be more accurate.
