Almost every business in the United States will do something at least a little special for the 4th of July, and so should yours. It can creep up on you quick, so make sure you plan early. In the United Sates, Independence Day is about the biggest day in summer, like Christmas in winter; doing at least something to try to capitalize is a wise course of action for any business.

The Star Spangled Banner (the flag, not just the song) is everywhere you look during the 4th and there are several hundred kinds of promotional items out there specifically for the big day. Regardless of your specific business, you’ll find something appropriate to it for this holiday. Get some air fresheners shaped like American flags, visors with the red white and blue, and so on. Besides the flag, there are also other well established icons of the holiday. Hard to forget Lady Liberty standing proud down on Liberty Island in New York when you’re trying to think of patriotic symbols. You’ll even find some beach balls with the star spangled banner on it.

Beach balls are just one of many outdoor items, and outdoors is really the direction you want your thinking to go. People that plan to take in the fireworks show are dragging lawn chairs and blankets to it, which happen to serve as good advertising spaces. Some even go the extra step and take a cooler along, turning the experience into a picnic of sorts. Those coolers could have your company logo on them. Don’t forget special glasses and fans you can take advantage of which has special lenses to look through to make the fireworks look even more spectacular.

Try to think a little bit beyond just the single day in July, too. The winter holiday season is better described as a month or several weeks rather than a specific holiday day, and you can take this approach to summer. The entire summer season is an outdoor affair, and summer promotional items are usually aimed at outdoor activities. There are, of course, backpacks and kits that contain everything you’d need for an outdoor meal so you don’t need to purchase them separately. Coolers and lawn chairs are great for any picnic, be it a company picnic for employees or some kind of picnic catering to clients and customers. Items like lanterns, flashlights, water jugs, and lighters are great for targeting the campers among us.

Clothing is a pretty versatile promotional item in addition to everything else, one that can also be utilized for Independence Day. Visors and baseball caps are good for dealing with the sun and improved even more with a pair of sunglasses into the mix you can have a 4th of July combo promotion. Light jackets or fleece would be appropriate for those areas of the nation that get cool at night even when they’re seeing record-setting heat waves during the day.

There’s no real shortage of examples you can find just taking a look around you, but also make an effort to stick out from the crowd. Take a good look at what your competition is doing, or what is happening in other industries. Find a promotion you can get excited about, and you’ll be able to get your customers excited about it!
