I had become extremely depressed and stressed out because an unfortunate accident left me home bound for the past six months with no transportation. When I saw an ad for a book on making origami flowers at home I thought I would try it even though I was very low in spirit...

To my pleasant surprise, it was a very relaxing pass time and made my stress level decrease dramatically. An intense sense of great satisfaction and purpose are two of the feelings I get when I looked at the beautiful origami flower which I created. Now, both my stress level and depression have improved dramatically and I believe it is also to thank for my physical condition improving.

There are only a few key items that are needed to make an origami flower. The special colors of the origami paper that you need to make your origami flower can be purchased at any local hobby, or arts and craft store. You can use regular newspaper but it is usually too thick for the folding process, however the specialized origami paper is thin enough and cut to the right size and shape. The only tools you need is a pair of scissors, a pencil, and a ruler...

The rose is one of the most least difficult patterns of all the origami flowers. Four sheets of origami paper are needed, one sheet for the leaves and three sheets for the flower. The second red piece is about three quarters the length of the first, and the third is about three quarters the length of the second one. The fourth one (the green square) is equal in size to the largest red piece. All three of the red pieces will be folded using the pattern called the origami square base.

This is a simple process to learn:-

1. Diagonally, fold one square, then fold it on the East-west line and the North-South line...

2. Make sure that the colored side is facing upwards...

3. Now fold the diagonals as the valley goes (downward), and the East-West and North-South as the mountain goes (upward)...

4. This process can be repeated on the remaining two pieces...

5. Make an imaginary line through the paper, then fold and unfold the right corner of the base to the middle of the imaginary line...

6. With the edge, fold and unfold onto the crease that you just made.

7. Now, fold the right side to the left and then on the reverse side repeat this process...

8. With the other two pieces of red origami paper, perform the same steps...

9. Then, put the rose pedal forms inside one another to giving your flower a 3-D look...

10. And finally, put all the red pedals underneath the green leaves that you shape from the green paper to create your own beautiful flower.

Origami flower art is an inexpensive hobby that can be very rewarding. It's not hard to learn, once you get the right directions, and it's very much fun to do. One or two hours spent on learning these processes is approximately all the time it would take. The creation of origami flowers gets faster the more of these lovely flowers you make...

In the next step you should not have to go to great lengths to learn How to Make Paper Flowers and other kinds of paper flowers. Undoubtedly you could also use visual help.
