Every 'effect' in life has a 'cause.' Where you'll be a year from now, what you'll be doing and who you'll be doing it with is an 'effect.' It is a result. An outcome.
What you choose to focus on and the language you allow to go on inside of your head every waking minute, is a cause. It is a very simple equation. The cause creates the effect. It is happening all around you, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. You can't stop it. And even if you did stop it, the outcome would be the effect.
What you say to yourself is a cause that creates an effect. It is a verbalized thought that creates an emotion or feeling. That feeling will determine how you act.
Have you ever seen a man who knew that his grass was getting high, sit back and say, "I don't FEEL like going out in the hot sun and mowing the lawn?" He's either too tired. Not feeling well in his body or just, too lazy. The truth is, he told himself before he said it aloud, 'I don't think I'll go out and mow the grass today.' You see, his self talk didn't start when his wife asked him 'when' he was going to get his backside out there and mow the grass. It didn't happen when he answered. It was reinforced by his answer, but it was likely answered before then.
