If you are like many people who have attempted to lose weight, or have lost weight only to regain it in a matter of weeks, you know how difficult and daunting a task weight loss can be. The key to losing weight is acquiring a new set of good habits to replace the bad habits that made you gain so much excess weight in the first place. A great habit to take on to help you lose weight and keep it off is quite simple-drink more water!

It may sound strange at first, but if you think about it it will all make sense. Your body is over 2/3 water. Your body relies on water for all of it's essential processes. Whether it is the immune system or flushing out toxins, water is absolutely necessary. Water helps us move without pain and helps keep our blood at the correct volume, and is essential to flushing harmful toxins and metabolites out of the body.

Water has an interesting role in terms of metabolism that is important for anyone attempting to lose weight to understand. Water is essential for almost all the metabolic processes of the body. This means that if you are dehydrated, metabolism cannot continue at maximum efficiency. If your metabolism isn't operating at maximum efficiency, then it probably means that you aren't burning as many calories as you could be. This is counter productive to losing weight!

Another aspect of adequate water intake is the fact that water is a required substrate for proper digestion of the food we eat. When your body is not able to absorb the nutrients it requires to stay healthy, you will feel hungry even when you shouldn't, or when you just ate! Proper digestion and detection of the foods you eat is the key to feeling satiated. Without water, feeling satiated is almost impossible for long periods of time, and you will crave foods even when you shouldn't!

By simply flushing toxins out of your body by drinking water, your body will become more efficient at burning calories. Have you ever noticed that people with high metabolism have more energy? It is because their body is working overdrive all the time. This is not possible without proper hydration to maintain all the necessary metabolic processes of a healthy body. So if you want to maintain a high metabolism, water is a must.

If you want to lose weight and keep it off, begin by drinking water and end by drinking water! If you drink water before meals, it can make you eat less food and give your stomach feel full quicker than normal! If you make consuming adequate amounts of water a habit, you will reap the benefits in no time at all.
