You've found the perfect home business opportunity. Well, so you thought. When you begin to build a MLM business, you have chosen to agree to some company's contract. Some people don't realize that, but it is true 100% of the time.
You may not have signed on the dotted line, but you checked a box saying you read and agree to the Policies & Procedures. That step must be done in order to begin marketing any MLM product. So what I would ask you is ... did you actually read the Policies and Procedures? (Most people don't.)
That is the legally enforceable agreement between you and the network marketing company. Do you have a clue what you have agreed to? You might be surprised. Actually, you could be absolutely shocked. It's fairly standard for a company to insert one or more clauses making it clear that you - the rep - may be terminated at any time for any reason with 30 days' notice. You'll find companies use this wording on a regular basis. They wait until you have built an income, and then they terminate you. Who do you think gets your stream of income? Keep in mind, this contract was written by company lawyers. Chances are, the company won't terminate you to steal your check unless they get themselves in financial trouble. But it happens.
If your plan is to build a future for yourself and your family and your team, then you definitely want a contract that can't kick the legs out from under you.
How much fun is it for you when someone calls you up on the phone to sell you something? Not much, probably. At least none of us want some pushy, aggressive salesman using techniques to close us. You certainly aren't someone who'd ever want to do that yourself, I'll bet. So why would you ever think you could build a MLM business by selling?
That is still the business-building technique that most companies and MLM gurus teach - sell and close. But if you don't want to do it, and the people you talk to don't want to do it, how will you ever build a business that way?
The system I have seen work best is to just talk with people and find out what their frustrations are. It's important to really listen so you learn what really motivates a person, and what they see as the stumbling blocks. Then talk to them about how you can work together as a team to solve that problem. The key is to build a relationship with the person, which you will never do if you try to sell them. Then you have a duplicatable system - sales training is not.
The ebook "Success in 10 Steps" by Michael Dlouhy details these ideas and many more. It's a free download describing the pitfalls of MLM and how to be successful anyway. The 10-step system in the book shows how to build a strong team through long-term relationships. It's a free download, and you can use the book as part of a very inexpensive lead-generation system offered by the author, Michael Dlouhy. It's effective, because so many people have a strong belief in the benefits of MLM, but they've just never had the real-life success that they want. Dlouhy shows exactly why that is, and exactly what you need to do to achieve long-term success. The opportunity to then turn around and use the book as your own lead generator is a real bonus.
