I recently had some vacation time to use up so I decided to decompress on a wonderful Zen-style retreat. This was not a Zen retreat in the strict sense of the word, I am no buddhist, but the lodgings and activities are inspired by a meditative and contemplative style of relaxation so we are using that term loosely.
When I got to the retreat, the first place I went was my room. It was so relaxing and uplifting that I was surprised when I starting looking around the room in more detail and realized it was actually fairly spartan in decor. The crown jewel of the room was a luxurious Zen platform bed! Aside from that, there wasn't much in the room except a small dresser, a side table and mats and cushions on the floor. That bed was so gorgeous and inviting I knew right away that this was going to be the most relaxing vacation of my life, and guess what- I was right!
I think the most refreshing part of that retreat was how well I slept in that amazing Zen platform bed. I was so enamored with it that I decided to look for a similar one to buy when I got home. If only I could sleep so well and so luxuriously every night! I dreamed about those quiet soothing lines and the authentic Japanese shiki futon mattress. And butter-soft sheets and pillows.
When I got home, I immediately started the search for my dream Zen platform bed. I figured the best place to start looking was on the Internet since I wasn't really sure where to look in person, plus I assumed that I could find the greatest variety of styles and I really wanted to find the absolute perfect Zen platform bed. Well, I was right again! I was just amazed by how many different platform beds there are... But I wasn't looking for just any platform bed, I wanted the perfect one!
After some searching I was able to find a Zen platform bed that exactly fit the bill. Needless to say, I was elated and purchased it immediately with rush shipping! When I received it and put it into my bedroom with brand new 1000 thread count bedding, I felt the sense of calm and content that I had experienced at the retreat begin to wash over me... Ahhhhhhh. My own retreat, in my very own bedroom.
