Buying garage plans on the internet has grown in popularity over time like everything else across the internet. The convenience of being able to log on to your computer and buy your shed plans at the click of a button and have them delivered to your door the next day seems to be becoming a lot more appealing than going out and finding a architect and trying to get him draw your plans.
Obviously this has great benefits to the customer but you also have to be aware of scammers that are cropping up in all areas trying to make a quick buck, and this would include plans. These people might have no training in drawing garage plans and no insurance to cover their drawings.
In order for you to get quality garage plans there must be certain things I would advise you on looking into.
Firstly I think a professional looking website says a lot about a business, what would you choose a pro or cheap skate? Have a detailed browse over there site and get a feel for them, do they have a quality policy, environmental policy etc, these would be a requirement for chartered architects.
The country you buy your plans is important as you want to make sure your drawings have being drawn to your countries building regulations. Browse the different websites and don't be afraid to bombard them with questions. American designs are usually timber studded framed which in most cases would not be suited for Ireland and the U.K. Garage plans in the U.K should be of cavity wall construction or a single inner and outer block wall.
Next you should be looking for a guarantee with your garage plans, something that they will stand by. As the internet is such a competitive place you should also shop around websites to see who can offer you the best plans for the best price.
The main aspects you should be looking for in your drawings are, a front, 2 sides and a back elevation of the garage, a section of the garage is also important from a construction point of view. A detailed specification of how the works will be carried out, who should carry the works out and by what regulations and standards should be adhered to, these are the most important elements in your garage plans.
Some websites will provide custom drawn plans and some wont, the majority of websites have pre drawn plans which you just select and pay for. But let me warn you 90% of drawings will have to have there designed changed when you apply for planning permission and your local council wants part of you design changed to suit them. So make sure the person you buy the garage plans off will be able to edit them again and it might be a good idea to ask what does he charge to edit the garage plans before hand.
I'm writing this article not for my pleasure but as a warning, I've had plenty of customers coming to me after being ripped off by previous so called professionals and it's something that annoys me.
