Traffic is the most important source of sales generation for any internet or e-commerce based businesses. Without traffic, there would be no visitors to your site, which basically means no sales and thus no profits. You may have created the most superb or excellent web presentation, but if you do not engage the right strategies to advertise, you lose. Attracting traffic (specifically targeted traffic) is the number one task you must do for your site to succeed or make a profit.

How do you go about doing it then? Well, the answer lies in one of Google's advertising services - Adwords.

Today, Google is the largest search engine on the web receiving million of queries each day. Google launched Adwords as a way for businesses to advertise their products or services. Google does this by displaying relevant text based ads within its search engine results as "Sponsored Links". Whenever a particular keyword is searched on, these relevant links appear in a separate section giving maximum exposure to the sites listed. Believe me, with proper setup, the result is unimaginable.

Eager to setup now? Just follow the 7 outlined steps below.

1. Open an account with Google Adwords.

2. Indicate your target country and language.

3. Create an ad group

Design the ad, select keywords and determine maximum cost per click (CPC) that you are willing to spend and define bid amounts.

4. Select an effective title tag.

Make sure it is attention-grabbing and catchy which describe your site clearly. Selection of good keywords is of utmost importance and cannot be underestimated. Only then will you be attracting targeted leads.

5. Choosing your keyword variations.

Broad match is targeting keywords in a loosely defined manner.

Exact match is targeting keywords to match the query exactly.

Phrase match is targeting keyword phrase when the exact phrase is searched on.

6. Define your campaign budget.

Make sure it is affordable and within your budget.

7. Define your maximum cost per click.

The more you set, the higher your ads position will appear. But your campaign cost will shoot up too. So try to set a optimal value.

The benefit of using Google Adwords has proven to be a very effective advertising tool for many. Not only will your site receive excellent exposure, do not be surprised by the amount of highly targeted traffic flow which your site will receive.

So start googling your way with Adwords now.
