To the young of today, the Internet is just part-of-the-scene, but to us oldies its just an amazing development whose rapid rise to fame has pretty much stunned us all. Businesses of all kinds are having to adapt their thinking about advertising, and that certainly applies (in particular) to recruitment agencies advertising Recruitment Vacancies.
Not too long ago Recruitment Vacancies would (only) be advertised in the newspapers but nowadays they are increasingly advertised upon "the web". Having said that, however, there are said to be billions of web-sites so how does one advertise effectively amongst that lot! In other words, how does a web-advertiser make sure his advert gets noticed ... and that it isn't like the proverbial 'needle in a haystack'.
And the answer is ... by placing the advert on a specialised web-site that is dedicated to carrying that kind of advert and that is already "prominent" on the web. With this in mind employment adverts in general tend be placed on the so-called Internet jobs-boards. These are modern inter-active web-sites where both employers and job-seekers can register their requirements.
So, for example, someone looking for a job in a recruitment agency would be well advised to look at the Recruitment Vacancies jobs boards. They'll be easy to find. Just type some such words as Recruitment Vacancies into the google search engine, and see the jobs boards in amongst the list of results that you get.
Not every recruitment agency will be advertising this way, well not yet anyway, but the cost/benefit analysis is gradually encouraging more of them to "modernise". For Recruitment Vacancies the cost comparison between the traditional newspaper advertising and advertising on jobs boards has re-structured the market-place. Newspaper advertising can be very expensive and heavily bias the market place in favour of big companies with big budgets.
Internet advertising can be relatively cheap and therefore give skilled recruiters at smaller / start-up companies a better chance.
Jobs boards tend to be either "universal" or "targeted". The universal ones being boards where one can place (or find) adverts for vacancies in a multiplicity of industries, and geographical areas. The targeted ones are those that are specific to a particular industry or geographical area. Boards specialising in Recruitment Vacancies, i.e. jobs in recruitment agencies, would be an example of what we would call a targeted board. From the advertiser's point of view the different types are likely to offer the choice between quantity and quality of "viewers".
At the end of the day the recruitment agency looking to place adverts for their Recruitment Vacancies, will have to make a choice. Every jobs board will no doubt claim to offer a marvellous deal, so how does the recruitment agency choose between them? Well, its not a bad idea to ask for a free trial to see what sort of results are forthcoming. But if that is declined, try contacting some of the other advertisers and see if they will recommend it.
