Dog Beds have come a long way in recent years and are now making a significant difference
in modern day doggie dreamland.
Since dogs are pack animals and generally enjoy company, allowing your dog to sleep
in your bedroom is a good thing but not on your bed. This does not mean
that you cannot invite your furry friend onto the bed in the morning for kisses.
Dog Beds - Why Do You Need One?
- To actually share sleeping space makes the dog feel instantly equal and than superior.
Dogs can easily get the idea that they can run things and sleeping on your bed can make
even a fairly mild dog possessive and difficult. It starts by hogging the bed or
growling if you roll over and the aggression may carry over to the rest of your
relationship. Start out with the correct training and be consistent so your dog knows
what is expected of him.
Your pet should know from day one that you are in charge at all times, if you do not
want to have a potential problem. Give him a dogbed of his own and let him
use it. But having your dog in your bedroom is a plus, usually for you and your best friend.
- If you do not allow your dog to climb on your furniture, it will keep your linens and furniture
from becoming soiled and will control the spread of hair and dander by concentrating it in one, easy-to-clean location.
- It will provide your dog with his own private space and gives your best buddy
a sense of security.
- Ideal for joints and bones, especially if your dog is older, arthritic, or overweight.
The cushioning from an Orthopedic dog bed will give great support and comfort for his joints.
- Lessens the chance of your pet getting hurt and injured from jumping on and off the couch, chair
or any furniture, particularly when you are away from home.
- Sleeping on a cold drafty floor is not a healthy situation for your dog.
There are so many dog beds to choose from that will be perfect for your pet from contemporary to classic
styles. Maybe you would like to pamper your pet with a luxury or designer dog bed or sofa. From funky to fabulous
all sizes are available whether you have a Chihuahua or a Great Dane. Select a quality bed, like most items that
you buy, quality is better, it will last longer, look better, you will generally have a better selection and it
will be more comfortable for your dog.
Decide on the style that would suit your dog, age, size, how your dog positions himself when sleeping and placement
of the bed will all be considerations. You will want a bed that fits into the color scheme of your home and for
ultimate comfort there are many fillings and supports available.
If your furry friend spends time in his crate, you will need a dog crate bed or pad and if your dog
travels in the car think about having a separate washable bed for your car so that doggie odors don't
build up in your vehicle.
Just a couple of things in closing - dog beds should be large enough for pets to stretch out comfortably.
They should be waterproof with a cover that has a durable fabric which can be removed and machine washed.
When you consider your dog's comfort and well-being, it's a win, win situation!
