Many people hear about the glitz and the glamour of work-from-home businesses and wonder how they, too, can have their wildest fantasies unfold in front of their eyes. Well - to set the record straight: work-from-home businesses aren't always going to allow you to wake up at noon and wander around the kitchen in your underwear until you head to bed at night, but it is more than possible to make a livable income while working from home. We're going to explore one of the many ways to make money while working from home: freelance writing.

What's quite amazing about the online version of the freelance writing field is that in order to become a writer, you don't really need too much experience. In fact, the only "real" experience you need is the ability to put together a few sentences that make sense. These requisites are hardly prohibitive by any stretch of the imagination.

See, the "offline" world of freelance writing, usually represented by newspapers, magazines, books and other printed media have demands that are exorbitantly different than your average website owner who may need content for their blog, sales page or for marketing purposes. If you've tried your hand in the "for print" writing world, you've undoubtedly found it to be overloaded with requirements for extensive training as well as years of real-world experience. These requirements have been in place for ages and they're not likely to change anytime soon.

However, when you consider becoming a freelance writer where the mainstay of your business, and your clients, will be online - the requirements are almost non-existent when compared to the offline version of the trade. In many cases when you're offering writing services online, you'll be writing for individuals, not large, multi-million dollar companies.

While you may not be able to make much money if you deliver shoddy work time and time again, individuals and small startup companies do not have the resources or time to investigate the background and work history of potential writers; they hire and fire based on a writer's demonstrable work, not their purported training and expertise.

If you have the bug to make money while working from home, freelance writing is a viable choice for singles, single parents, college students, stay-at-home parents and retirees. The work is generally easy for those who are just starting out and the requirements are as well. Making money while working at home would be a dream-come-true for many individuals, and working in the field of freelance writing online may just be the work-at-home job that you've been searching for.
