The origin of tattoos dates far back in time. In Egypt, tattoos that were discovered on mummies were found to date from about 2000 B.C. The word tattoo is thought to have evolved from tattau, a Tahitian word, which means "to mark." In some civilizations they are a rite of passage for boys into man-hood. For others they’re symbols of beauty and grace for new mothers or blushing brides. Whatever the meaning behind them, they have been around for years and do not show any signs of declining in favor.

The decision to get a tattoo is an important one. A person must not only decide what to have engraved on their body, but also where it should be placed. Some of the most popular body parts to have tattooed are the ankles, the chest, lower and upper backs and of course the arm. Some people will only get them where they can cover them successfully while at work or church while others flaunt them proudly. Tattoos have certainly made their "mark" on today’s society.

The bicep tattoo has long been a trademark of tough guys and rebels. Arm tattoo ideas are as unique as the people who have them or will eventually get them. There’s the ever-popular heart with and arrow through it with a lovers name inscribed within. Let’s not forget the tribal armband either or the full sleeve that seems to be growing in popularity lately. There are even faux tattoo sleeves for those who are just not ready for a long-term commitment. They simulate full sleeve tattoos and from a distance there is not a distinguishing difference.

People from all walks of life have tattoos for a variety of different reasons. Many people get tattoos to symbolize an important event in their lives whether happy or tragic. They symbolize inclusion as well often signifying a brotherhood of sorts for the people who have them. Some tattoos are time stamps. They immortalize a day in time forever. Whatever the reason, arm tattoo ideas are endless. TattooMeNow! is an excellent resource for getting ideas or inspiration. I found this site while looking for arm tattoo ideas.
