There are considerably more than just one reason a person may have acne. So, it only makes sense that for the different types of acne, there are different treatments available. Unfortunately, it is impossible to know which type of treatment will work best for any one particular patient. As a result of this, most patients will have to try several different treatments, and several different combinations of treatments to see which works best. With several factors contributing to the development of acne problems a good deal of trial and error may be necessary to find what works for you.

No conventional medication or treatment exists that can produce an instantly noticeable result. With this in mind, many people seek out acne alternative treatments.

Some of these acne alternative treatments are remarkably effective in clearing the skin, as well as improving your skins general health.

Here is a list of some of the more commonly known acne alternative treatments.

Herbal Remedies

There are a great many people who are against the taking of strong acne drugs that may produce side effects. Herbal remedies represent one of the most powerful forms of acne alternative treatments available to those people. Although they can be effective, one of the problems with herbal remedies is that they are very slow acting. While the results may be worth waiting for, it may take an entire month of consistent use before results are visible. Should you choose to go with herbal remedies, remember to be patient. Remember also, that herbal remedies have never been studied, and tested for safety, and effectiveness as acne alternative treatments.

Home Remedies

Many home remedies have proven to be the only form of acne alternative treatments that may be just as effective as some of the expensive acne products available today. Much like herbal remedies, these acne alternative treatments have also never been thoroughly studied in a science lab, so results and possible side effects cannot be verified. While perscription drugs available today will help you with your acne problem faster than home remedies, there is still a risk of unwanted side effects that are sometimes a common consequence of modern medicines.

Natural Treatments

Another way to avoid the cost of expensive acne drugs and the possibility of all their side effects, is the use of natural remedies as acne alternative treatments. The same problem of not having enough scientific data to really substantiate the benefits of natural treatments is apparent here as well. Like herbal and home remedies, it is not possible to predict the time it takes to cure, or how exactly the cure works. All methods of acne alternative treatments are usually subject to a lack of scientific data, and insight because these studies are usually reserved for synthetic treatments that are prepared by a pharmaceutical company.
