Are you frustrated at trying to find products that will do their job but that won't irritate your skin and make it any worse? Are you tired of spending your hard earned money on products and skincare treatments that do more damage than good? If so, you are not alone and it’s not your fault.

Sensitive skin requires sensitive skin care. Sounds simple I know but unfortunately, it’s not. You may be used to have a stinging sensation every time you cleanse or may see your skin break out when you try a new product. Hopefully we can help you today.

Usually if you apply a few simple tips and techniques just for sensitive skin care you’ll find that your skin responds very well and can indeed be healthy and radiant. So what exactly are some things you need to remember for sensitive skin care and how are these things any different than caring for normal skin?

First, remember when thinking about sensitive skin care that sensitive skin does not like change. Always trying new products may mean that you're just irritating your skin without giving it a chance to adjust itself to new ingredients it's not used to, and this causes irritation. If you have a product that seems to be working as a moisturizer or exfoliating agent, it’s probably best to continue using this product rather than switching.

Second, a big part of sensitive skin care is using products that are made especially for sensitive skin. Products like these are usually free of perfumes, fragrances, dyes, preservatives, and other ingredients that sensitive skin does not like to come into contact with. Normal skin may be able to fend off these irritants but sensitive skin may react by breaking out or becoming dry, chapped and red. Most brands have at least one product especially formulated as a good option for sensitive skin care so look for that on the label.

Third, organic products may work well for sensitive skin care since organic means that they're without a lot of added chemicals and harsh irritants. Organic products are becoming more and more popular among many people as we learn more about the harmful affects of additives and other chemicals on our bodies. After all, our skin is the largest organ on our body and slathering the skin with chemicals is almost like eating the chemicals. You can easily find organic products that are made for sensitive skin care; they are typically available at any retailer or pharmacy and you don't even need to drive to the health food store or vitamin store to find them, although you may find a higher quality at specialty stores.

Finally, you can make up your own natural or homemade products that will work well for sensitive skin care. Using natural products can be one of the best alternatives for the skin anyway. For instance try a simple honey and oatmeal paste as a cleansing agent. How does it work? The honey moisturizes the skin and the oatmeal acts as a cleansing and exfoliating agent. Raw eggs are also good for the skin as they contain a high amount of vitamin A. You can just beat one with a fork and apply it as is on your face, leaving it on for a few minutes before rinsing away. And it's important to be gentle with your face regardless of what you use for sensitive skin care. This means no harsh scrubbing and exfoliating, never more than once or twice per week.
