September 15, 2008 was the date that Myspace published the names of the corporate sponsors who might become a part of what could be termed the biggest discovery in online advertising or Internet marketing.

Large companies such as Sony Pictures, Toyota and McDonalds have been a part of the newest changes to Myspace music. Partnerships were built by the social networking website with numerous recording labels that include Warner Music, Sony BMG and Universal Music. These partnerships will allow them to present ads on their music website, depending on what the person is looking for. The ads will make it possible for the users to download their favorite music or players at a price they can afford or for free.

Jeff Berman is the head of Myspace Sales and Marketing. He has stated that this is the biggest endeavor since the launch of Myspace. This will, hopefully, cause a change in the way that users look for, use and experience music.

The Following Explains How the System Works

You may not believe that you can download these songs for free. Each one of these companies have designed a plan to sponsor free music downloads. Toyota is a prime example of this in that they will be sponsoring in Myspace for a year, especially on Toyota Tuesdays. They will also be capable of making suggestions about the types of songs or music for Myspace users. Another company is Sony, who will be attaching skins of upcoming movies to the playlists of each user for one week. Because of this, these ads are displayed all over Myspace pages. There are millions of subscribers to Myspace, so there will be higher traffic and conversion rates for the above named companies.

Myspace versus iTunes

Itunes is very popular on the World Wide Web and might be considered to be the most popular music download website. New artists are often dependent upon the exposure that iTunes can give their new records. There is not only a problem, but an advantage to using Myspace Music – paying for every download. Due to the low cost, you have a new way of enjoying music and being able to save your favorite songs to a playlist.

Myspace has more advertising revenue than iTunes due to it's sponsors. The sponsors will enjoy a share of the advertising profits, as well as being able to help with the struggling music industry.

How Will This Go?

The real challenge will be to see how the ads on music websites like Myspace will do. Sponsors will still have to provide results. Everyone seems to be optimistic.

One of the most popular social networking websites to day is Myspace. Music and videos are only a few of the services offered to members. Myspace has memberships in every country around the world and has just launched a Myspace site that is Spanish-based.
