There is a reason you were promoted to management, but it may not be exactly what you thought. Sure, management is responsible for planning, organization, leadership, and control. However, there is something much more important that every manager is responsible for.

The critical element of every manager's responsibilities is to ensure that their employees have the absolute best work environment in which to perform their job. In a sense, it is the job of the manager to serve their employees.

Now to be perfectly clear, managers are not at the beck and call of their employees waiting to meet their every needs. But what I mean is that your job as a manager is to make sure that your employees have all the capabilities to do the best job they possibly can.

This includes providing them with the tools, instruction, and environment they need to complete their task as skillfully and efficiently as possible. They must also have a very clear understanding of what is expected of them at their position.

As a manager, it is your goal to see to it that your employees get as much done as they possibly can during their work day (without extending that work day to 16 hours.) So it is important that your employees know exactly what it is they need to accomplish, and why.

It is vital that your company outline a list of goals, and that you have a clear plan to accomplish these goals. Periodically, you need to check to see how you are progressing toward your goals, and to see if there are any adjustments that need to be made.

So it is clear that the best managers are there to serve their employees and their company. They do this by making sure that everyone keeps their eyes on the goals, and that they work every day to make those goals a reality.

This helps the company be more profitable, and it helps employee morale for them to see how they played a part in the success of their company.
