In this information age that we live in, we are bombarded with messages from all sides. There are commercials on TV, ads on the radio, newspapers, magazines even automated calls and text messages on our cell phones. There is so much noise out there it is difficult for novice Network marketers to be heard.
Here's What typically happens:
You join a network marketing company and you're very excited. Your sponsor tells you that to get started you need to make a list of the top 100 people you know. This is called your warm market. Most people generally blow through their warm market list in about three months (if not sooner) then they have to find other people to market to. So equipped with a one liner, supplied by their sponsor, they head out to accost anyone that comes within 3 feet of them (that's right the 3-foot-rule). Another time honored tactic is buying a list of opportunity leads and making "cold calls". But to be successful at this takes some skill on the phone and a pretty thick skin. After these tactics fail (and for 97% of Network Marketers they do) what do we do?
In this Age of Computers We Turn To The Internet!!
Now with renewed vigor and the URL to a replicated website, most marketers resort to the same tactics online that they used offline. They join traffic exchanges, social networks free lists and start telling everyone how great their Network Marketing product or service is.
Here's the problem:
The people that we are marketing to for the most part are other network marketers. They already have a product or service that they are marketing. And guess what? They think their Network marketing company is the best just like you do. What a dilemma! So What do we do?
My friend Mike Dillard (Big time Marketing Guy, Google Him) put it this way:
During the gold rush of 1849 a lot of people headed to California in search of gold. Some people found it and became rich. Most were not so fortunate. But the one group of people who consitantly made money during that time were not the gold prospectors. The ones that made money were the ones that sold picks, shovels and systems for mining gold.
The picks, shovels and systems of the internet marketing age are marketing tolls systems and education that will help your fellow marketers to become successful. Become an information provider. Teach other people to become successful. Lead people to the information on how to become successful and they will follow you. If you can do this successfully they will be magnetically attracted to your advice and some may even join your business.
