Having an opt-in mailing list is extremely valuable. The phrase "the money is in the list" is seen everywhere on the Internet for markters. However, there is a very important part left out of that phrase. The buyers. You may have a large mailing list, but how many people on it are actually buying from you?

If you really want to make great sales, then the money IS in the list - but in the list of buyers, not just subscribers who like free content and never spend any money.

Most of your subscribers on your list who are buyers are probably a targeted prospect who knows what they want and you have made a good relationship with them. They opted in because they like what you have to offer and want to buy what you sell, recommend, or promote. If you have a list, you already should have some buyers. But how many people do you have buying compared to how many email addresses you have listed...

You can create a list of buyers (even if you've never had a list before) easily and here are four methods to help you get started:

1. Target your audience. Know who your audience is and who wants to buy your product. Make sure you only sell or promote something of real value that people truly want to buy. Your offer should be specific so just those people who want to buy in your niche come to your product. They offer should be geniune and exactly what your audience wants. They should want to sign up to your list.

2. Place an opt-in forum on your squeeze page and keep it simple. You only need their name and email address, not where they live or phone number, just the basics. Make it simple for them and allow it to flow naturally through the product check out process. You can always follow up with the person after you have their name and email if you need further information or want to send out a survey or other information.

3. Keep it simple. Have the opt-in page centered on the page, easy to see, with inviting colors or design. You want to welcome them to your list and products and make everything run smoothly and easily for them.

4. Bring in traffic to your squeeze page. If you are giving something away or having a special sale, bring traffic to your website and target your audience so you attract who the product is for. Use the related forums, blogs, and wording to narrow the search for your specific person to come and sign up.
