If you are going to set up a template than you want to be sure that you are getting all of the right visual details of it right. This will be something that you will be using for quite a while, so any mistake might end up costing you on multiple different marketing pushes.

Now, focusing on poster printing there are a number of details you have to be aware of when you first start making your poster template. The first is that print posters have to have very strong images in order to gain a person’s attention.

How often do you just decide to look at a poster for no other reason than because you want to? This is not why the majority of people are going to end up glancing over at a poster. They do so because there is something interesting in the poster that catches their eye. They look at the poster even though they were expecting to.

You need to be able to provide people with something that are going to garner their attention even if they were not expecting to give you any of it. Colorful pictures are just most often to achieve results like this. On some occasions a very odd or unique image is going to do the job, but then, for an actual poster template this might not be the best idea.

The reason is because excessive odd images might end up becoming common place rather than remaining unique, and as soon as they become common they are not going to be eye-catching anymore. Instead focus on developing a template that lends itself well to multiple different formats rather than just one type.

Also take into account the impact that the title or headline of the poster is going to have. Make sure that you have a nice, solid place set aside for the title of your poster. You want the headline to be just as large and interesting as whatever images you are choosing, and sometimes the headline itself can be the primary draw of the poster.

I would suggest you set up at least two different templates. Maybe set up one template with a stronger emphasis on an image and another template that places more importance on the headline. That way you have more options depending on what you need to say in your poster.

Be sure that you are also making the top of the poster more image heavy and the bottom more information heavy. People naturally read things from top to bottom, which means their eye will be drawn upwards first, which is where you need your strong images. From there you will have their attention enough to get them to read what’s on the bottom of your poster.

As with any template, the best ones are the type that can be used in a wide variety of situations. Do not limit yourself with narrow templates. Make something that will last you for years.
