Online card games are a source of good entertainment to people who do not like playing conventional action or strategy games. There are many sites on the Internet that offer various kinds of card games, providing hours of solid entertainment to gamers. The most popular card games are,

1. Blackjack – This is one of the most popular titles in the world. In blackjack, each player competes against the dealer. The target is to get cards with progressively higher scores in hand till the total of those cards reach 21 or a number close to that. If the first two cards add up to 21, the player is an automatic winner.

2. Bridge – This is one of the toughest games to master. It requires ample combination of skill and luck, and a minimum of four players, i.e., two pairs. Bridge follows a complex rule set, and is difficult for amateur players to get into.

3. Hearts – This is a very popular game requiring 4 players, but 3-6 player variants also exist. The objective of this game is to have the least total of card values at the end of the game.

4. Poker – This game requires skill and experience to master, and requires intensive practice. The game requires at least 4 players and the main objective of the game is to have highest total value of the cards in hand at the end. Many variants of poker exist, such as, Texas Hold ‘em poker, Omaha poker, etc.

5. Rummy – The game involves matching pairs of similar types of cards and removing them from the deck as the game progresses. The game is easy to play and relies solely on the power of observation and analytical thinking of the player.

6. Solitaire - The game requires dealing of cards from a shuffled deck. Once the dealing is over, the player attempts to rearrange the deck of cards by hierarchy of values through a series of moves. A variant of this game is called ‘Patience’ and is one of the most popular single-player card games.

7. Spades – This is a partnership based game in which the objective of each pair is to take at least the number of tricks they bid on at the beginning of the game. The set of spades is used as the trump of the game, getting a set of spades will let the partners win the game instantly. Spades is a derivative of Bridge and hard to get into. But, once the rules have been understood, Spades becomes highly addictive to players.

These and many other card games exist online for players to try their hands on. Most of these can be played in single player mode, with the computer filling the roles of the other players. These games can provide hours of hassle free entertainment to players worldwide.
