Check if your email list clears the acid test

It's a proven fact, online marketing has huge popularity among the upcoming entrepreneurs. They know that in order to survive the stiff competition in the market they cannot ignore Internet boom for long. Hence even successful direct marketers have started looking towards Internet marketing.

Upcoming entrepreneurs as well as the big giants understands well that online marketing can only be a success if they have relevant, correct email addresses appended in the customer database. With so many email lists providers present in the market it has become difficult to choose the right one. However, there are few things to be kept in mind irrespective of any email marketing vendor. Check these things out:

Opt-in email list

Before rolling out your email campaign make sure the email list you have are strictly permission-based. Email recipients are too sensitive to react if they find emails coming from strangers. No matter your content is useful and of their interest it's not a bad idea to go for double opt-in.

Text, HTML or both

It is important to know whether the list you are buying can manage messages in any format (HTML, Text, etc.). There are opt-in lists which can allow only text messages. Even if your email lists can allow HTML mails as well, don't forget to send an option of reading the same in text format as well. This will also be helpful for those recipients who want to take print out of your email. Also in an HTML-only email list, you should check if you can easily send graphics as well.

'Subject' and 'From' line

These are the two most important fields that can make or break your budding relation with the recipient. Let the subject line be so enticing that the reader loves to open. Similarly, don't forget to include your company name in the 'From line'. In fact, the list providers also ask their names to be included in the "From line". This is not at all a bad idea, as it helps reader to recollect that they are getting emails from someone they know and has subscribed with.

Rich content

Your email recipients are your prospects and customers so just talk about business and nothing else. Few things which the reader wants in your email are: it should not be lengthy, the unsubscribe link to be specified clearly, content to be so rich in information and hyperlinks that the reader would love to click on the hyperlinks to know more about the product and services.

Active links

It is really important to check if all the links are opening and taking the recipients to the correct page. This shows how sensitive you are towards your customers and concern about them. Don't miss to provide link that will take them to your home page. Also don't forget to mention about the privacy policy. More clear you are about the privacy policy, more the recipient will trust you. Even the list providers too ask for your privacy policy before making any deal with you.

Testing

Testing is something you dare not to forget before rolling out the campaign for your product. Send some emails to known email addresses like some of your employees, etc. Check if its is appearing the way you wanted to, or not. Once assured, roll out your campaign.
