For the majority of templates you form for all of your advertising the most important thing you’ll have to consider is the layout of the page. This is the basic part of any template. They deal with where you put the images and words, and allow you a decent amount of freedom in varying up where each thing goes.

Brochure printing is more complicated than it seems due to fold patterns and the kind of impact they can have on your finished brochures. Knowing about the different fold patterns can give you the ability to create much better templates, and allow you to have a wide variety from a single brochure template.

What you have to realize is that different fold patterns work best with different types of focuses for your brochures. If you want to have an image heavy brochure you might go with a much different style of folding than you would for a text heavy one, and of course you’ll always want to have brochures that create a strong balance between images and text.

The best kind of brochure templates are the ones that can work with several different fold patterns at the same time, but only if you know what types of folds you want to eventually use.

You can create a single brochure template that can give you an image heavy brochure, text heavy brochure, and balanced brochure at the same time if you fold it in a different way. You accomplish this by being aware of where the different boxes and images will be in different fold patterns, and make sure the same boxes can be used in completely different places depending on the type of folds.

Now, why is all of this so important to know?

Because templates are meant to be used more than once you want to be sure that you get the most use possible out of each template. Good templates can save you a lot of money in design costs down the line because you only have to fill in the blanks of your templates each time you use them.

The drawback of templates can be customers growing bored with your marketing because they can see that the designs are similar. But if you make sure that your brochure templates can be used with multiple different kinds of folds than you can make your brochure look new and interesting over and over again, and space out how you use it and how the finished products look.

This saves you that much more time and money on your brochure designs because you’re getting so much more use out of each template. As with most things in life you can’t get the most out of designing a great template if you don’t know everything that makes them work.
