Walt Disney said, … "There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island … and best of all, you can enjoy these riches every day of your life."
Sometimes … in spite of all of our efforts … people just don’t learn.
Introducing Life Training.
After years of teaching, a teacher compiled the following answers from test exams:
The Magna Carta provided that no free man should be hanged twice for the same offense.
Martin Luther was nailed to the church door at Wittenberg for selling papal indulgences. He died a horrible death being excommunicated by a bull.
William Shakespeare wrote tragedies, comedies, and hysterectomies, all in Islamic Pentameter.
Sir Francis Drake circumcised the world with a 100-foot clipper.
Abraham Lincoln was born in a log cabin he built with his own hands. He wrote the Gettysburg address while traveling from Washington to Gettysburg on the back of an envelope."
People heard the right words but they obviously did not learn. It’s not too late to learn through Life Training.
It is a power principle to understand that learning does not stop when we finish school. We have to keep on educating ourselves. I believe that learning power is earning power.
I believe that Information and Knowledge go hand and hand.
I’ve heard it said that if you take all the money from your pockets … and use it to fill your mind … then what is in your mind would someday fill your pockets.
There are three basic types of knowledge. First, there is Acquired Knowledge. The great and all wise leader Groucho Marx even said, … "I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book." That’s what you get from books and tapes, etc. I read the other day that the average person buys 2000 donuts in their lifetime … and two books.
The great Jim Rohn says, …"You need food for thought … Bread for your brains! Read … Educate yourself!"
Malcolm Forbes said that …"Education’s purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one." Oprah said this…"Books were my pass to personal freedom. I learned to read at age three, and soon discovered there was a whole world to conquer that went beyond our farm in Mississippi." Listen up … LEADERS ARE READERS!
Every time you leave the house you need to carry a book with you. While eating lunch … feed your mind. While waiting in line … feed your mind. Remember … A man who will not read is no better off than man who cannot read.
The second type of knowledge is Activity Knowledge.
Aristotle said that … "What we need to learn we learn by doing." Read …learn … then DO!
You see … knowledge is not power … "applied" knowledge is power. It’s been said the mind is like a rubber band … it’s no good till stretched. You stretch your mind when you force it to put into action all the information that you’ve put into it.
