Jerome Seinfeld is an American comedian, actor, and writer from Massapequa, New York. Seinfeld has earned the reputation of an observational comedian. He became very famous for playing a semi-fictional version of himself in the long-running sitcom Seinfeld. He was also the co-creator and and executive producer of this extraordinary sitcom.

Early Life

Seinfeld was born in the borough of Brooklyn in New York City on April 29, 1954. His parents were jews. His father, Kalman, was of Hungarian Jewish background and his mother, Betty, was of Syrian Jewish background.

He got his early education from Massapequa High School. He then attended the State University of New York at Oswego in upstate New York, but he transferred out after a few semesters. Jerome was was an amateur wrestler and proudly called himself "The Jewish Terror." when he was in college.He tried out at an open mic night at New York's Catch a Rising Star in 1976 after completing his graduation from Queens College.

He was known for his incredibly dedicated and devoted work ethic. Soon after, Seinfeld got an opportunity of appearing in a Rodney Dangerfield HBO special.

Seinfeld:

Seinfeld created The Seinfeld Chronicles with Larry David in 1989 for NBC. The show was later renamed Seinfeld. The show was greatly appreciated. It became the most popular and successful sitcom on American television just by its fourth season. The show went on air in 1998. The show is still receiving heavy airplay in syndication as of 2007.The show also featured many stars. These included Saturday Night Live veteran Julia Louis-Dreyfus, as well as experienced actors Michael Richards and Jason Alexander. Seinfeld's role in the show was very interesting. He played a caricature of himself on the show. His show was inspired by the 1950s sitcom The Abbott and Costello Show. Seinfeld is greatly influenced by the comedy of Jean Shepherd .

Post-Seinfeld:

Seinfeld went on tour in 1998. He recorded a comedy special entitled I'm Telling You for the Last Time. An album of the same name was also released that year. Samples of his stand-up performance were featured in this album.

The public showed immense reaction after Seinfeld's decision to end one of television's most popular programs.Seinfeld returned to stand-up comedy when his sitcom went off the air.

His stand-up routine is highly acclaimed. Seingeld has the honor of being ranked #12 in Comedy Central's list of the 100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time.

Jerry Seinfeld has written a few books, mostly archives of past routines.

Seinfeld also availed opportunities of appearing in two commercial 'webisodes'. These webisodes were promoting American Express Credit Cards, entitled "The Adventures of Seinfeld and Superman,". Seinfeld was appeared together with an animated rendering of Superman. Seinfeld is a Superman fan in real life.

Movies

With the Dreamworks animated movie "Bee Movie", Seinfeld is making his film debut. This film will be released in early November, 2007. In the film he will voice the main character, Barry B. Benson, a bee who discovers that humans are stealing the honey in his hive. Meanwhile, he falls for another bee, Vanessa, voiced by Renee Zellweger.

Books

Seinfeld is been successful as a bestselling author, most notably for his book Seinlanguage. This book was released in 1993. The book has the distinction of becoming a number one New York Times bestseller. The book is primarily an adaptation of the comedian's standup material.

Seinfeld has recently written a children's book titled Halloween (2002). The book was illustrated by James Bennett.

Seinfeld completed the forewords to Ted L. Nancy's Letters From A Nut series of books and Ed Broth's Stories From A Moron. He also wrote the foreword to the Peanut Butter & Co. Cookbook.
