One of the most complex organs in the body, the brain requires plenty of nutrition and nourishment for good health, proper functioning as well as long life. To provide ‘fuel’ to the brain one must take brain vitamins for not only boosting brain metabolism but also to protect against age-related memory loss.

The traditionally venerated brahmi of Ayurvedic medicine is popular as water hyssop in the west. Other popular names used in different parts of the world are thyme-leafed gratiola and moneywort. It is an indigenous Indian herb which grows in large numbers near the marshy areas. Brahmi is a small creeping herb with white or pinkish flowers. Try to take the information and relate it to something that you are familiar with already. The ability to use this association technique is very helpful. Try to interconnect things that you can deeply relate to with the information that you need to remember. It does not have to be things that are even relevant to each other. You are just simply trying to give your brain the ability to recall information when you think of that "trigger".

There are lots of natural vitamins to increase brain memory; some of these are Vitamin B and E. These memory vitamins helps maintain the correct nutrient deficiencies, chemical balance and repairs the damage caused by environmental and food pollutants. Some sources of these vitamins are liver, vegetables, whole grains and dairy products

One of the oldest and most popular herbs for improving memory, Ginkgo is also one of the most studied herbs and has been shown to help the brain in a number of ways. It increases blood flow to the brain, boosting its ability to function optimally and was also shown to be as effective as some prescription medications in improving focus, memory and mental function in Alzheimer’s patients. Its antioxidant properties protect the brain from damage by free radicals which may be a major contributing factor in age-related cognitive decline.
