Their is nothing like home made spaghetti and meatballs. I was taught this recipe from an 80 year old Italian woman who has since passed away. So I cant take credit for it, but I can share it with you. By the way she was an amazing cook! This is a family sized recipe, or you can freeze the left overs if you have a smaller family.

Things You’ll Need:

* 2 lbs hamburger
* 2 lbs ground pork
* 2 boneless porkchops
* 1 package saltpork
* 2 medium onions
* 2 Family size cans of hunts tomato sauce
* 4 tomato's
* olive oil
* 2 eggs
* 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
* chicken base
* 6 cloves garlic
* 2 lbs spaghetti noodles
* oregano
* Italian Seasoning
* salt and Pepper
* parsley

Step One

Gather all the ingredients, then dice up onions and garlic into very small pieces, also chop up the pork chops and tomato's into bite size pieces. In a very large pot put a generous swirl of olive oil, 1 and a half onions the salt pork, tomato's, garlic. Turn burner on to low and cook down for an hour(keep stirring every so often). Its going to look real oily that is okay it will cook down. Now add the chopped up pork chops, 1 lb of the ground pork, 2 teaspoons chicken base, 1 teaspoon oregano, 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, parsley and some salt and pepper and cook for another hour, keep stirring. Next add both cans of hunts tomato sauce, while that is cooking proceed to next step.

Step Two

In a large bowl combine 2 eggs, 1 cup Italian bread crumbs, 2 lbs hamburger, 1 lb ground pork, half an onion, swirl of olive oil a little parsley some salt and pepper and a few dashes of Italian seasoning. Mix ingredients really well and form into small size balls. Now add the meatballs directly to the sauce that is cooking, do not cook them first. Let this cook for another 2 hours on very low heat.
Step Three

While the sauce is still cooking fill another large pot with water put a swirl of olive oil in it and a pinch of salt and heat water to a boil. Put in 2 lbs spaghetti noodles and cook until done(drain). You are ready to eat, put noodles on plate pour sauce and meatballs over top, sprinkle with parmesan cheese, WALAHH!

The longer the sauce cooks in stages the better it will be, it gives it time to cook down and for the flavors to mix together.
