If you are like me, then you don't have money to throw away on hosting fees, PPC advertising and programs that supposedly drive traffic to your site automatically. I have decided to offer my advice to those who aren't in the know on how to do these things. It's not really that complicated, there are several free hosting companies out there (the only draw backs are that the packages are understandably limited). If you are capable of using mysql and PHP to build your own website then I found freehostia to be quite good for a free account -

If you don't really understand all that stuff and just want to use a website builder that can make a basic site, then you should try synthasite now called yola but either name still works. I have tried many "so called" free packages and have had no end of problems doing so. These are the only two I know of that have free hosting and free sub-domains.

Free advertising can be done but does tend to require a fair amount of work, determination and effort. However you should find the rewards satisfying. The obvious and most common way is article submitting, this requires you to write a decent or at the very least informative or useful article, you then need to submit it to as many article directories as you can - I am using the free version of a submission software called Article Submitter, just Google it and search until you find a place where you get it free for signing up to a mailing list. The free version does require you to manually submit your article to each one but once you have filled out all the fields required, it memorizes them and you only need double click the links and submit.

As for the advertizing part, you place a link on the article that sends them to your site or blog. Do not try to add links to other places or products, just your own single link. Too many links will be considered spamming or the article will be considered an advertisement and not an article, this means it will be rejected. There are a few other ways to advertise for free, such as; free classified ads like - craigslist, yahoo and MySpace, there are more but I will leave you to find them.

Driving traffic to your website/blog can be done for free via traffic exchange programs, such as traffic swarm/traffic splash and easyhits4u amongst others. You can also drive traffic to your site by finding forums that are connected to your product line and post intelligent questions/answers or comments on relevant topics and add a link to your site.
