There are hundreds of excuses and reasons why people don’t move forward and gain the success they deserve, but what’s been holding you back from having your own successful eBay business? Before we were selling on eBay full-time, here are 3 main excuses or reasons we had for not going full steam ahead with our business.

1) We never got that first listing up. We had spent thousands of dollars on eBay training, coaching and learning materials, but we still just sat around without listing anything. It just wasn’t a priority or a reality to us yet. However, once we got the ball rolling with our first few items, we saw the money coming in and now had some determination to keep listing. The hardest push is always at the beginning, but once you get the ball rolling momentum gains quickly.

2) We didn’t treat it like a real business. We didn’t take the time or have the dedication to just go for it. Dedication is extremely important when starting a business. Attitude and discipline is what separates between a hobby and a business. When we finally buckled down and decided that we were going to be professional about our work, that’s when things really started moving.

3) Worrying too much about finding the right products. We didn’t know what kind of business we wanted to have on eBay, so we hesitated with selling anything. We felt that if we didn’t have a good product to market, it wasn’t worth starting a business. The thing is, your business is not your product. This is an important point I hope you don’t miss. Build your business structure and systems separate of the products you are selling. Once you do have a niche, you can specialize and tailor your business accordingly, but don’t make your business revolve around your product.

There they are. Now you have no excuse to not have an eBay business. Learn from our experience and just get your first few listings up, get serious about your business, and don’t worry about the perfect product.
