Qinghai Lake is fresh water lake destination in the Tibetan area. The airline personnel were friendly and very cooperative. Only 35 miles from the Xining, this new, fast route will make it easy for tourists to go for a weekend, play, relax and rejuvenate at a very low price.

Famous for its 20+ years of community development, Qinghai Lake is a large Lake, some 4317 square miles, roughly the size of the City of Lhasa. Its claim to fame is the weather and mysterious caves and all the joys of modern tourism.

After we arrived at the Xining Airport, we were greeted by a Tibetan Guide named, Pasong, which covered all the attributes of the Lake in a 15 minute delivery as he drove us to the "Bird Island" a super hotel-spa complex hugging the lustrous lake.

Our suite, overlooking the lake, had a "Heavenly Bed," something we have been reading about and which was without a doubt the most comfortable bed we've ever slept on.

Soon we were escorted off on a Tibet travel in a train of Jeeps, some driven by fellow guests led by a charismatic and very knowledgeable Tibet guide.

Then, off to the Haixin Shan, some miles away, to share the ecology of the mangroves and the staggering vista of rolling surf, breaking gently on the crystalline sands. We were too late to see their famous dramatic caves but they are a must for visitors!

A common saying here is "Go for the sun, stay for the food." After a rest, we walked to a very elegant restaurant, George's, in the town Haixin commercial complex. Luxurious dinner was served featuring the best of meats, fowls and fish. The wines were superb and we experienced impeccable service. It would give any upscale Beijing restaurant a run for its money. There were many other restaurants in the complex, but this was the 3* one.

After a sleep enhanced by lapping waves, breakfast was served in their Tibetan restaurant. All in all, the population was friendly, speaking with a Tibetan. The menu of delights included horseback riding on the lakefront, colorful nightlife, spas, choices of golf courses and easy-to-acquire real estate. What more could one ask for?
