Ever since the first X-Men film was released in 2000, fans of the Marvel Comic by the same name have been avidly looking forward to newer installments. Given the amount of X-Men listed on their Marvel Comic website, the number of films could run to a little less than two hundred (the approximate number of X-Men listed on the website) or could be limited to a select few heroes.

For now, the newest installment to the X-Men movie series X-Men Origins: Wolverine is the first of what seems like a deviation from the previous three movies. X-Men (2000), X-Men: United (2003) and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) all focused on the lives and troubles faced by the band of ‘mutants’ known as the X-Men. The fourth movie however, is largely a narration of the X-Man known as Logan or Wolverine.

Unlike the X-Men comic books, Wolverine is one of the more popular X-Men and fans of the series, especially male fans, identify with his bad boy persona. Played by Hugh Jackman, Wolverine is depicted as a man deeply troubled in the X-Men Origins Film. His Weapon X days are the focus of the movie and his clashes with his similarly empowered rival Sabretooth, make for riveting action scenes.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is actually a prequel of sorts to the other three X-Men films and attempts to trace the life of the ferocious wolf-like character Wolverine prior to his memory loss. The film is adrenaline-charged and contains some interesting characters like Ryan Reynolds playing the flippant Wade Wilson aka Deadpool and Liev Schreiber as Victor Creed or Sabretooth.

Hugh Jackman commendably steals the show as Wolverine or Logan though, and once again proves that he is perfect for the role of the ferocious Wolverine.

The X-Men Origins movie is slated for release on April 30, 2009 in the Middle East and will be screened at all the major theatres in the region. Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, UAE, Jordan and Lebanon are the privileged few countries in the Middle East where X-Men fans can hope to catch X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The film’s release date in the US and most countries worldwide is a day later. To catch up on the earlier three X-Men films, fans have a chance to attend a special X-Men Movie Marathon at Cinestar Cinemas at Mall of the Emirates in Dubai. Movie ticket vouchers for the film’s release, free Wolverine packs and much more X-Men merchandise are on offer for moviegoers.

The fourth X-men movie, X-Men Origins: Wolverine will release in Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, UAE, Jordan and Lebanon in the Middle East on April 30, 2009. The movie is essentially a prequel to the earlier released movies and focuses on tracing the life of the mysterious Logan aka Wolverine, before he lost all his memories.
