A blog is an excellent medium to communicate with your audiences effectively. Not only this, it facilitates easy updates of content and thus have better chances to rank high in the search engine results. However, the internet is populated with millions of blogs and it is not very easy to just create a blog of your own and make it the best out of the lot.

But it is not impossible as well. Armed with adequate knowledge and the right kind of tips and techniques, you can optimize your new blog and make it a success. Here are some things you need to keep in mind when you launch your blog.

Remember that you are a Fresher
This is not about your design skills but about your status in the blogging community when you become a part of it. Don't expect your blog to be an instant hit and create a buzz overnight. You will have to work hard to build up a reputation in the design community and exhibit your knowledge in order to gain credibility. So be prepared to work hard.

Join Twitter
Twitter is a popular microblogging website that is making a great buzz recently. This is because people have come to realize the immense marketing potential of the medium and started utilizing it more and more. Create an account on Twitter and start following relevant people who belong to your niche market segments. When you follow more people, you not only expand your network but you also gather useful information posted by them. Here are some tips to use Twitter.
Don't be disappointed if some people don't follow you and don't stop following them for this reason. You can still gain knowledge with the information they tweet about.
Retweet links that you think are good and thank people when they retweet your link.
Focus on posting useful links so that people start following you naturally.

Feature Guest Blogs
One of the effective ways to increase your blog traffic is by inviting guests to write for your blog. Remember, the guests should not be your best friend who has always wanted to write. Rather, invite people who are industry professionals and are experts at what they are talking about. Also, you can write on other blogs as a guest. This will help you build a better network and reach out to a new audience. You get more exposure, and more followers. Moreover, when you guest blog on other blogs, you get link back to your blog that would further increase your blog traffic.

Use Social Media Websites
Social media websites are a great way to communicate with people and exchange information. Websites like Facebook, Delicious, Digg etc. allow users to connect with one another and share information. Create a profile on these websites and include information about yourself and your business. However, don't make the mistake of popularizing only your content. You need to give other people credit for their content and in turn, they will promote yours as well.
