Interior spaces of school and office buildings need to be safe as well as look neat and clean to promote a comfortable atmosphere for the people working there as well as for those who visit the place. Simply put, they have to look inviting from the walls, ceilings and floors.

The flooring of any interior space should never be ignored. After all, it’s the one that carries the weight of humans, furniture and equipment. It also has to look good as it’s usually the first thing you see when you open the door and step inside. And what you see for the first time almost always provides a lasting impression. In interior designing, the floor is given a higher level of importance than the walls. Firstly, it has to be made of a sturdy and durable material. It’s the floor that bears the weight of people, furniture, appliances and other heavy equipment hence, the choice of flooring and floor coating has to be of high quality.

A second consideration is safety. For interior spaces that are frequented by people, the floors need to be slip resistant. It is here where industrial floor paints such as the epoxy flooring systems serve their best purpose. The epoxy flooring system reduces the likelihood of slip and fall accidents whether the floor is dry or wet.

This flooring system is ideal for school and office buildings as well as other facilities such as hospitals, warehouses and industrial kitchens which have high foot and wheeled traffic. Where sanitation is of utmost importance, the epoxy floor coating is the right choice because of its superior resistance to food and chemical spills.

This type of industrial floor paint is known for its unique form and function. Apart from creating a clean and flawless look, it is very durable with a floor finish that is resistant to any chemicals and easy to maintain.

Epoxy is a unique material because of its versatility. It is a mixture of resins and hardeners that creates a plastic material. After a chemical reaction turning the substance from liquid to solid, the epoxy becomes highly adhesive. Epoxy comes in various forms and can be used in different applications such as adhesives, composite materials and coatings. Most of these industrial epoxy flooring can easily penetrate the floors and can cure within two hours.

There are two types of industrial epoxy for floor coating purposes. The water based epoxy has a thin consistency, is cheaper and is capable of maintaining the anti-slip texture of cements. The second type is the solvent free floor epoxy which is thicker in consistency, has a glossy finish and is capable of hiding a wide range of flaws on the floor. The main difference between the two lies in the floor finish they create. The water based epoxy has a plain paint look while the solvent free epoxy creates a glossy or wet finish.

Depending on the type of interior space, the industrial epoxy coating has its own advantages. Being a versatile substance, it can be applied in different levels of thickness, textures and colors. And besides being a strong material, it has been proven to be very durable that it can last for many long years and can endure different forms of cleaning procedures. Cost-wise, it is also very affordable.
