I’m sure you’ve heard about the Law of Attraction somewhere in your world. Whether it was on TV or an advertisement for "The Secret", you have in some way been touched by the idea. The basic principle is that, what you think about, or concentrate on, grows. If you focus on not having enough money to buy your dream house, you probably will find yourself never having enough money to buy your dream house. On the other hand, if you focus on having plenty of money to buy the car you want, the car will find its way into your life. "The Secret" focuses on the power of our thoughts and how much they dictate what we accomplish, or don’t accomplish, in our everyday lives.

Here’s one problem with the idea…not everyone gets the order of how things have to happen. A thought is the beginning. Of course, this is what spurs the entire process on. But, just thinking isn’t going to make that dream car magically appear in your driveway. There’s another secret element to the equation that isn’t focused on, so many times goes unnoticed.

Think about it, in our lives we know tons of people who want things…who talk about how different their lives would be if they had this or that. They may labor us with conversation after conversation on how badly they want it. I personally have a friend who is always talking about how much money she DOESN’T have. Though I suggest her thinking, her ending response is always: "I have no options." It’s clear to see here that if her belief is she "has no options", then she doesn’t. Until she can wrestle herself away from that heartfelt belief that options are not a possibility, she will never find any and never having enough money will be her situation. So what is this secret element? Obviously it’s not "wanting" something. Millions of people want something in this world, and millions of them will never get it. What makes them immune to "The Secret" working for them?

Here is the answer: "The Secret" also involves creating a passion and dedication to ACTING on that thing you want. It’s like the Bible quote that says "Faith without works is useless," (James 2, NIV.) The truth is that you can have incredible water-walking faith, but without moving on it, the chances of what you have faith in coming, are greatly diminished and sometimes rendered impossible.

So the secret to "The Secret" is not only to know that thoughts are energy and they create, but also to create passion in your wants. Be passionate about what you want. Regardless of what it is, whether it’s a spouse, or a car, or a house, or financial freedom, be passionate. Involve your emotions into what you want the act on it. If you want a car, go test drive your dream car. Surround yourself with the sensory experience of feeling the steering wheel, smelling the interior, touching the dashboard, seeing the pleasing nature of the body, etc. Do whatever you need to do to make it real and create a passion for it.

Here’s the great thing about creating passion. If you are passionate about something, you won’t stop until you get it. Trust me, there most likely will be obstacles down your path. You may get turned down for that car loan. The dealer may not have the type of car you want at the price you were hoping for. Your ride to the dealership may fall through at the last minute…whatever the temporary roadblock is, know that it’s just that: temporary. Your passion to get what you are focused on has the ability to be far stronger than any roadblock you encounter. It’s all up to you.
